     Potter-McKean opened the Pa. District 15 softball playoffs last week with a pair of losses, 12-11 to Southern Tioga and 11-1 to Wellsboro. The 11- and 12-year-old all-stars were due to play Northeast Bradford (0-3) in the next round of pool play on Thursday. Results weren't available by press time. Potter-McKean is coached by (from left) George Dubots, Terry Roys and Will Daniels. Team members, from left, are: front -- Lexi Easton, Mercedes Shupe, Marissa Simms, Kina Logue, Brianna Majot, Kaylee Brooks and McKaila Daniels; back -- Hannah Glover, Darien Dubots, Jerzi Phelps, Brooke Daniels, Brooke Roys, Caitlyn Harvey and Rikki Rennells.

Austin, Emporium Alle-Catt showdown this Sunday
      Austin and Emporium each picked up some momentum last week to carry into Sunday's Alle-Catt Amateur Baseball League showdown on the Emporium diamond at 2 pm. Pitcher Jesse Whitman went the distance and Josh Cooney delivered a three-run homer to move the Austin Panthers (4-3) past Wellsville, 7-5.

Duffee honored for softball
      Pennsylvania Softball Coaches Association (PSCA) announced its 2009 All-State high school softball teams. Among those selected for honorable mention was senior pitcher Karli Duffee of Coudersport. The daughter of Gerald and Terri Duffee, she posted a 17-2 record with a microscopic 0.45 earned run average.

Free youth football camp in August
      Coudersport Football Boosters Club will hold its annual Falcon Football Camp Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 4-5, from 8 am to noon at Metzger Field. It's open to students entering grades four through seven.

Little League All-Stars win one, lose one
      Cameron County opened District 10 Little League Baseball (ages 11-12) North Division playoffs with an impressive win, but came up short in a second game. In Friday's opener, pitchers Luke Newhouse and Erin Garrigan combined for a three-hitter with 16 strikeouts as Cameron County beat the Bradford Americans, 5-0.
