In two weeks, it will be archery season and the landscape will be ablaze with brilliant fall foliage. One thing that has really stood out for me this month is the heavy red oak acorn crop. Richard Alfred Merry II, 72, of Emporium died Monday (Sept. 14, 2009) in the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born Aug 29, 1937 in Bradford, a son of Richard Alfred and Elizabeth Rice Merry. Mr. Merry was a 1955 graduate of Bradford High School and was a self-employed arborist.
