Vocal harmony rings Saturday
      Rich vocal harmony and plenty of fun are on tap for Saturday night at the Coudersport High School auditorium, as barbershop singers from a wide area come together to present “A Broadway Review!” Tickets are $10 at the door. Children 12 and under will be admitted for free.

Parents, grandparents asked to join services group
      Potter County Integrated Children’s Services Planning Committee has put out a call for parents and grandparents to join the group and play a part in deciding what programs and services would best benefiarea young people. Next committee meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 10 am at the Potter County Human Services offices in Roulette.

Program on pioneer women planned
      Potter County Historical Society will host a program on the role of women in settling the region. Speaker will be Jeannette Buck, a local writer who will share the results of her research. The program will be held at 7:30 pm on Friday, Oct. 30, and is open to the public.

Boot camp, yoga classes set
      Emporium Wellness Center has added an additional day to its Boot Camp. The sessions will be held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for six weeks. Wednesday’s classes will offer a variety of exercises. Cost is $68. The Wellness Center will also offer a yoga class at 4:30 pm on Thursdays and at 10 am on Tuesdays. Cost is $25 per month.

SADD to hold spaghetti dinner
      A spaghetti dinner will held on Sunday, Nov. 1, from 11:30 am to 4 pm in Emporium at St. Marks O’Connell Hall. Cost per person is $7. The dinner is part of a senior project by students Chelsea Summerson and Betsy Richnafsky. Proceeds will benefit Students Against Drunk Driving.

      Coudersport Rotary members were kept entertained – if a bit wary – when “Bwana Jim” Moulton of the Little Red Schoolhouse Wildlife and Nature Center in Millport brought part of his exotic animal show to Monday’s luncheon meeting at the Laurelwood Inn.

Antique Seeker’s Holiday Home Tour Dec. 11
      Date for this year’s Holiday Home Tour is Friday, Dec. 11, starting at 6 pm. It’s sponsored by Antique Seekers of Cameron County and showcases five holiday decorated homes in the Emporium area. Church’s fall festival next weekend
      Emporium First United Methodist Church will hold its Fall Festival on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30-31. There will be a pancake breakfast from 8-11 am, homemade crafts, bake sale, and a luncheon from 11 am to 1 pm.

‘Books Unlimited’ returns Nov. 12
      Coudersport Public Library’s 24th annual Books Unlimited fund-raiser will be held on Thursday night, Nov. 12, at the Coudersport Consistory ballrooms. There will be music, hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and desserts, along with the popular auction. Tickets are $25 and will be available at library and from committee members.

Heroux completes training
      Angela M. Heroux, a 2006 graduate of Coudersport Area High School, has graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Wash. Upon successful completion of the course, the ROTC program, and graduation from college, cadets are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army, National Guard, or Reserve.

      Navy Seaman Recruit Ryan J. Chitester, son of Stephanie Chitester and the grandson of Jerry and Kim Chitester, all of Coudersport, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training. He was among those recognized during a ceremony at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

Halloween parade planned
      Sinnemahoning Volunteer Fire Department and Grove Township are sponsoring a Halloween parade on Saturday, Oct. 31, at the firehall in Sinnemahoning. Judging will take place at 4:30. A hay ride will follow at 5. The observance will conclude with refreshments at Sinnemahoning Recreation Park and trick or treating in Driftwood Borough, Grove Township and Gibson Township.
