Falcons preparing for playoffs
      Playoff time is drawing closer for the young and improving Coudersport High School football team. With freshmen and sophomores thrown into the mix following heavy losses due to graduation, the Falcons are maturing in time to make a run at the PIAA District 9 title after falling out of the league championship race.

Lyon leads Raiders in win
      Brandi Lyon had 11 kills and 20 digs to help Cameron County defeat Northern Potter in varsity volleyball Thursday night, 3-1. Karlee McLaughlin added 12 kills and 15 digs, while Kate Basgall had 24 assists and 19 service points with five aces.

Baguba Club meets Sunday
      Wrestling season is nearing, which means that things will be busy for the Cameron County Baguba Club. An organizational and planning meeting will be held at 6:30 pm Sunday at the Emporium Borough Building. All coaches and parents of all area wrestlers, from Junior Olympic through scholastic junior high and varsity programs, are encouraged to attend.

Giannotti eady for return run
      Coudersport senior Emily Giannotti is closing out her outstanding scholastic cross country career with a flurry. A former state championship meet qualifier, Giannotti is heading in that direction again. On Oct. 3, she posted the fastest time among a large and competitive field from 20 schools. Her sister, Allison Giannotti, was seventh.
