New extended elk season could target Prince Gallitzin elk
      As reported in Endeavor News, the Game Commission wants to create a six-day extended season for hunters who haven’t killed an elk by the end of the Nov. 1-6 regular season. They would be permitted to shoot either an antlered or an antlerless elk outside of the “hunt” and “no hunt” zones.

Crack down on poachers, drinking hunters coming
      A measure to stiffen punishments for poachers and hunters who are under the influence of alcohol sailed through the Pa. Senate Game and Fisheries Committee last week.

Expanded elk season among changes
      Changes in hunting seasons are in store, pending final approval by the Game Commission. The public may comment until the agency’s next meeting, April 19-20. Antlerless deer license allotments will be decided at that time.

Managing deer topic of Feb. 20 meeting
      Citizens will have an opportunity learn more about the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s (PGC) deer-management strategies and share their own views during a daylong session at the Coudersport Firehall on Saturday, Feb. 20. The Deer Management Open House will be held from 10 am to 5 pm.
