      Two wrestlers from the host team emerged undefeated during Saturday’s highly competitive Coudersport Invitational Wrestling Tournament. Dirk Cowburn made it official, setting the school’s all-time wins record as he marched through the 160-pound field with ease. His five pins all came in less than 80 seconds.

      Hunter Bardo’s pin in the next-to-last bout of the night nailed down the win as visiting Cameron County pulled out a 36-34 win Wednesday night at Coudersport as the 2009-10 wrestling season hit its final stretch.

Junior Olympic wrestlers compete
      Ten young wrestlers from the Junior Olympic program in Cameron County competed last weekend in Smethport. In the Battle of the Belt, pitting young grapplers from a wide area of Pennsylvania and New York, Nick Crisp took first in his weight class for ages six and under. Jonathon Good (7-8) and Zachary Becker (9-10) each placed third.

      Coudersport’s Ryan Jones is seeing plenty of playing time as one of the leading members of the men’s basketball team at Juniata College. The son of Gary and Linda Jones, Ryan is a senior majoring in environmental science.
