Death Notices

William B. Kenealy

Services for William B. Kenealy will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 22, at the St. Eulalia Catholic Church in Coudersport. Friends and family will be received starting at 10 am. William Bernard Kenealy, 98, died Nov. 7, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y. He was born to Benjamin and Grace Clark Kenealy in Wellsville, N.Y. A 1936 graduate of Coudersport High School, he served in the Army Air Corps as a B-25 bomber pilot in World War II in the South Pacific along with his brother Lawrence. Bill worked for more than 25 years at Brownhill and Kramer Hosiery Mill and was later employed as a parts manager for Robbins Chevrolet and later Kightlinger Motors. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Rose Masolotte Kenealy. Among survivors are two daughters, Patricia Handzlik of Buffalo and Brenda Williams of Hammondsport.

Joseph C. Uber

Joseph C. Uber, Sr., 72, a lifelong resident of Emporium, died March 8, 2017, at Sweden Valley Manor. He was born in Emporium, a son of John M. and Lucy Baun Uber. A graduate of Cameron County High School, he was married to Sharon Uber. Among survivors are two sons, Joseph Uber Jr. and Patrick Uber, both of Emporium; five brothers, Jack Uber, William Uber, and Charles Uber, of Johnstown, and Robert Uber and Howard Uber, Emporium; and three sisters, Ellie Haines of Genesee, Lily Skillman of North Carolina, and Kathy Uber of Roulette. Barnett Funeral Home handled arrangements.

John H. Shaw

John H. Shaw, 95, of Olean, N.Y., died March 5, 2017, in his home. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., a son of Harry J. and Mae Shaw. In 1945, he married Viola C. Chain. He was a decorated Army veteran of World War II and was active with the Shinglehouse Alliance Church. Among survivors are his wife and three children, John Shaw, Nancy Moreci and Richard Shaw. Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, handled arrangements. Burial was in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar. N.Y.

Michelle M. Houghtaling

Michelle M. Houghtaling, 53, of Westfield, died March 2, 2017, at Cole Memorial Hospital. Among survivors are her husband Hal and three children, Jeremy Hanes, Jennifer Hanes and Melanie Hanes. Olney Funeral Home, Ulysses, was in charge of arrangements.

Ethel M. Ordway

Ethel M. Ordway, 82, of Whitesville, N.Y., died March 2, 2017 in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville, N.Y. Born in Little Marsh, she was the daughter of Dana and Ethel Rogers Tracy. In 1954, she married Leon J. Ordway. Among survivors are five sons and five siblings. Burial was in North Bingham Cemetery. Olney Funeral Home, Ulysses, handled arrangements.
