God’s Country Marathon nearing

Registrations are pouring in for the 43rd running of the God’s Country Marathon on Saturday, June 3.

A popular half-marathon, relay division and “Conquer the Grill” barbecuing competition are also returning to complement the certified 26.2-mile foot race from Galeton to Coudersport.

Potter County Visitors Association is once again sponsoring the event. PCVA will be disbanding just a few weeks later. It will be reborn as a county events coordinator and partner with local community and promotional organizations.

PCVA office manager Joe Ayers, who is coordinating the marathon, said the Rt. 6 construction project has prompted some changes this year.

“We’ve moved the events and festivities to the Coudersport High School property,” Ayers told Endeavor News. “The school district has been very helpful in making this happen so we can build on the success of recent years.”

Ayers also said that there will be live music at the finish line as well as vendors set up on the adjacent school grounds.
