New Potter County bridges in the works

Work will begin next week on construction of a new bridge on Rt. 44 near the village of Clara in Potter County.

PennDOT is replacing a span over the Clara Creek that carries an average of 1,500 vehicle search day. Construction is expected to be completed in November. During construction, an alternating traffic pattern will be controlled by temporary traffic signals.

Also, PennDOT has begun replacing a bridge in Chrystal on Eleven Mile Road (Rt. 4023) in Oswayo Township. A detour will be in effect through Independence Day or later using Brizzie Hollow Road) and Rt. 44.

The current 25-foot box culvert dates from 1931 and carries an average of 250 vehicles daily.

PennDOT Potter County Maintenance and contractor L. C. Whitford Company of Wellsville, are performing the work.
