PennDOT, JKLM rebuilding roads

An active shale gas driller in Potter County is paying $3.2 million to partner with PennDOT for improvements to two roads.

JKLM Energy is using the 9.2 miles of state highway to carry hundreds of heavy vehicles involved in drilling and hydrofracturing deep wells. PennDOT’s share of the project is $3.55 million.

Work includes full-depth reclamation, which will allow PennDOT to lift weight restrictions, and drainage improvements

Earlier this week, State Route 1001 (Brookland Road/South Main Street/Fox Hill Road), stretching from the village of Brookland to Ulysses, was closed to begin the project. A detour using Rts. 49 and 449 will be in effect through mid-September.

Starting around July 24, North Hollow Road (State Route 4013) will be closed from the Rt. 6 intersection in Coudersport Borough to near Seven Bridges. A detour using Rts. 6 and 49 will in in effect until early October.
