A proposal to build a shale gas wastewater treatment facility in Coudersport has received the go-ahead. Coudersport Area Municipal Authority approved a lease with Epiphany Environmental to build a plant on CAMA property and discharge the purified water into the borough sewage treatment facility. CAMA brushed aside concerns voiced by citizens about volatile organic compounds, carcinogens and radioactive elements that could be in the water. Epiphany still must obtain DEP approval. Protesters gathered downtown earlier in the week to draw attention to their cause. Rowen Welsh, son of Bryan and Theresa Welsh, was among them.
