Dorothy Lamb Hershey

Dorothy J. Lamb Hershey, 79, of Woodstock, Ga., formerly of Coudersport, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017.

Born July 9, 1937 in Coudersport, she was the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Taubert Welsh. In November 1956, Dorothy (“Doe”) married Roy Lamb, who preceded her in death in 1993. She married C. Frederick Hershey in June 1999. He died in 2007.

Dorothy graduated from Coudersport High School in 1955. She retired from the Potter County Housing Authority, where she served for many years as executive secretary.

Doe was a member of the Thursday Morning Bowling League at Old Hickory Lanes and Coudersport Golf Club. She was involved in delivering meals for Meals on Wheels in the Galeton area, including St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was also involved in the Brookland Club.

She was predeceased by Roy Lamb and C. Frederick Hershey; a third child, Mark David Lamb,; and a sister, Lois Welsh Spoor.

Among survivors are four siblings, Robert C. Welsh Jr. and triplets John Welsh, James Welsh, sister Janice Welsh Goodwin; a son, R. Scott Lamb and daughter-in-law Kimberly Winslow of Idaho Springs, Colo.; daughters Jenna Russ of Marietta, Ga., and Tracy Bachmann and son-in-law Keith Bachmann of Woodstock, Ga.; 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy chose to donate her body to science. Arrangements are being handled by Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta, Ga. A memorial service will be held for the family at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Suwanee, Ga. A celebration of life to be held at the Bachmann home as well as her place of residence.
