Austin Dam Show lineup announced

A unique music festival at the Austin Dam Memorial Park returns over the Aug. 25-26 weekend.

Under the theme “Classic Rock by the Classic Rock,” calling attention to the tall concrete dam ruins, organizers have arranged for many of the bands to dedicate their sets to some legendary artists in rock ‘n roll history.

Those same tall concrete walls that were once a massive dam provide signature acoustics for this one-of-a-kind festival and serve as the screen for a colorful light show after dark.

More than a dozen bands are lined up to provide sets lasting an hour or longer. Food vendors and merchandise tables are set up at the park grounds.

Friday’s lineup is as follows:

• 3:30, Diggin’ Root Band from Western New York, bringing Allman Brothers covers to a blues/ jam kickoff set.

• 5, Woodshed Prophets, mixing power twang with a tribute to Neil Young.

• 6:30, Miller & The Other Sinners from Buffalo, N.Y., playing roots music with some ZZ Top classics

• 8, Andy Mowatt’s Steely Jam, including Stevie Wonder songs.

• 10, Charlie Wheeler Band, Ridgway’s rockers with a tribute to Eric Clapton.
