Genevieve Johnson

Genevieve Ann Walsh Johnson, 89, of Odin, died Aug. 1, 2017 at her home. Born in Queens, N.Y., she was the daughter of J. Edward and Dora Berktold Walsh. In 1950 she married Ormal R. Johnson, who died in 2010. A retired nurse, Genevieve was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church and the Get-Together Club of Austin and Wharton. Among survivors are four children, Carl R. Johnson of Coudersport, Paul J. Johnson, Stephen G. Johnson and Ellen Chancia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Saturday, Aug. 26, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. Friends may call from 10 to 11. Fickinger Funeral Home, Coudersport, is handling arrangements.

Bruce G. Baker

Bruce G. Baker, 93, of Card Creek Road, Roulette, died Aug. 4, 2017, in Cole Memorial Hospital. Born in Roulette Township, he was a son of Fred N. and Hattie Marschner Baker. In 1947, he married Tillie M. Pransky. He was active with the Riverside Methodist Church and Coudersport Consistory, where he was active in the Passion Play for several years. Bruce was employed for more than 35 years by North Penn Gas Company. Mr. Baker was a veteran of WWII, having served with the U.S. Army, and recipient of the Purple Heart as a result of injuries sustained in the Battle of the Bulge. Among survivors are his wife; a son, Dennis G. Baker of Roulette; and two daughters, Kristine B. (Mrs. Frank) Zitnik of Roulette, and Sandra J. (Mrs. Jack) Goga of State College. Burial was in Card Creek Cemetery. Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, handled arrangements.

Lefa L. Hennigh

Friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation for Lefa L. Hennigh from 11am to noon on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, where a memorial service will follow at noon. Following the memorial service, members of Eureka Chapter No. 52 will conduct an Eastern Star service. Mrs. Hennigh passed away on June 27, 2017.

Regina G. Bauer

Regina G. “Jean” Bauer, 93, of Emporium, died Aug. 7, 2017, at Felt Manor in Emporium. She was born in Stump Creek, a daughter of Patrick and Ann Kristofic Felix. In 1946, she married Guy Bauer. In 1942, Jean came to Emporium and was employed by Sylvania Electric Products. After raising her family, she worked at Cameron County High School cafeteria and Olivett’s grocery store. Jean was active with St. Mark Catholic Church. Among survivors are three daughters, Kathy (Mrs. Earl) Haberstroh, Monroeville; Toni (Mrs. David) Dresser, Emporium; and Christine (Mrs. Dave) Hickoff, Fenton, Mich.; two sons, Richard Bauer, Emporium, and Gerard Bauer, Beaver Dam, Wisc.; three sisters and three brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Saturday, Aug. 12, at St. Mark Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Mark Catholic Cemetery. Barnett Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Michael L. Hepfner

Michael Lynn Hepfner, 47, formerly of Emporium died Aug. 3, 2017 at UNC Hospital, N.C. He was the son of Charles “Bud” W. Hepfner and Judith Ann (Sprague) (Hepfner) Mosher,. A graduate of Cameron County High School, Mike served in the U.S. Navy from 1987-1993 and was stationed aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt through Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He earned a culinary arts degree from Indiana University of Pa. and was employed for many years as a chef. In 1994, he married Christie Oldham. They raised three daughters, Genna Anne, MacKenzie Rose and Kennedy Jeanell. Among other survivors are his mother of Emporium; and two brothers, Charles Hepfner of Emporium and Joseph Hepfner of Port Allegany. A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, Sept. 9, at the First United Methodist Church in Emporium. A reception will follow at the Emporium Firehall.

Gary W. Hemphill

Garry W. Hemphill, 70, a lifelong resident of Coudersport, died Aug. 8, 2017, at Cole Memorial Hospital. Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, is in charge of arrangements.

Joanna S. Hamilton

Joanna S. Hamilton, 87, of Ulysses, died Aug. 8, 2017. in her home. Born in Edinboro, she was the daughter of Frank and Edna Flynn Scheidemantel. In 1950, she married H. Clair Hamilton and moved to Potter County. They owned and operated Clair-Jo Farms in Ulysses for many years. She was employed as a secretary at the Northern Potter High School and was active with the Ulysses United Methodist Church. Among survivors are eight children, Laurel (Mrs. Kurt) Kosa, Larry Hamilton and Gary Hamilton, all of of Ulysses; Lynette Richardson, Columbia Cross Roads; Gay (Mrs. Karl) Torrey, Coneville; Todd Hamilton, Ulysses; Heidi (Mrs. Bill) Bodnovich of Chesapeake, Va., and Holly (Mrs. Andy) Hyde of Ulysses; and four siblings. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 on Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Olney Funeral Home in Ulysses. An Eastern Star Service will be held there at 8:30. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Sunday, Aug. 13, in the Ulysses United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.
