Veterans Day activities around the area

American Legion and VFW Posts across the area will be holding a number of events on Saturday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day.

Cameron County Vets Club in Emporium will be hosting a Veterans Day dinner. Social hour is at 5 pm with dinner following at 6. Cost is $5.00. The dinner is open to all honorably discharged veterans, active-duty and reserve military.

At 11 am, a ceremony will be held at the Cameron County Courthouse in front of the World War I Monument to be followed by a program at the Veterans Park that will include prayer, a wreath-laying ceremony and rifle salute.

In Coudersport, American Legion Post 192 will host a social hour and dinner to be held at the club beginning at 3 pm. Each veteran is allowed one guest. Cost is $10.

Afterwards, post members will present service flags during the barbershop music “Salute to Armed Forces” at the Coudersport Area High School auditorium, starting at 7 pm.

Galeton VFW Post 6611 will hold a dinner at the club. Social hour is at 5 with dinner to follow. Tickets are $10. All veterans will be admitted free. Spouses and children of veterans will receive meals for $5.00. Guest speaker will be Army and Vietnam War veteran Ron Andrus.
