‘Christmas in Wilds’ schedule announced

Christmas in the Wilds is set to usher in the holiday season in Cameron County.

It kicks off with a “holiday home tour” in downtown Emporium on Friday, Dec. 8, at 6 pm. Decorations, door prizes and Christmas music await visitors that evening to local participating homes and businesses.

The event will begin at Flowers ‘n Things and end at Aroma Café where hors d’oeuvres, desserts and beverage samples will be served. Cost is $15. Proceeds will help pay for the Cameron County Independence Day fireworks display next summer.

During the tour, participants will stop at the Felt Manor atrium, where the Cameron County Quilters will have works on display for inclusion in a silent auction.

Tickets are available at the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce or can be reserved by phone at 486-4314.

On Saturday, Breakfast with Santa returns from 9 to 11:30. Following breakfast, artists will demonstrate their work and vendors will sell refreshments and other merchandise. Free children’s crafts, cookie decorating and other activities will be available. Santa Claus’s reindeer will be making a return appearance.

New this year is a Yuletide Caroling Contest open to individuals, families, businesses and other groups. Registration for the free event is now open at the Artisan Center

The Christmas Parade steps off at noon and progresses down Fourth Street. Also on Saturday, Emporium Senior Center will host a food and craft show from 9 to 3.

A community benefit dance will be held at the Emporium VFW at 8 pm.
