‘Bruno Carnovale Day’ January 19

Friends and colleagues of Bruno Carnovale are planning some special moments when they gather to honor him from noon to 3 pm on Friday, Jan. 19, at the Emporium Firehall. The public is encouraged to join the fun.

Between his service as a Borough Council member, Civil Service Commission chairman and, most recently, mayor, Carnovale has dedicated a half-century of his life to serving the people of Emporium. His retirement took effect on Dec. 31.

A Johnsonburg native and Navy veteran of World War II, Carnovale worked for many years as an electrical designer, inspector and master at Sylvania Electronics. While it’s not in his job description, he frequently donated his engineering and electrical skills to the borough.

Mayor Justin Zimmer, who took office at the beginning of the year, has declared Friday “Bruno Carnovale Day” in the borough.

The afternoon gathering will include a retrospective on Carnovale’s life and career, some lighthearted roasting, and special guests. More information is available from Borough Manager Don Reed at 486-0768, extension 222.
