Curt Weinhold photoCensus: Curt Weinhold photoCensus: Morseman made another run at the God’s Country Marathon record, but once again came up short. This year, the Tioga County resident cruised to a win in 2 hours, 34 minutes and 5 seconds, far ahead of the runner-up. Eldred’s Terry Stanley remains the record-holder with his 2:25.14, established in 1981. More than 200 runners participated this year, either in the full marathon, the 13.1-mile half-marathon, or a relay division for the longer race. The new Potter County Recreation and Events sponsored the marathon with Joe Ayers as its director. Morseman was far in the lead when he was greeted by Smokey Bear near the Pa. Forestry Bureau office on Denton Hill.
