Resident fined for using boro hydrant

Coudersport Borough Water Authority held a special meeting Wednesday to discuss penalties and potential charges against a borough resident who used a borough hydrant to top off his family’s pool.

Todd Brown, a member of the Coudersport Area Municiple Authority, admitted to police when interviewed that he had used the hydrant to fill the last few inches of his pool in an effort to speed up the process. Borough police did not cite Brown, but Water Authority members penalized Brown with a $300 fine. He must also pay $250 as restitution for the water.

Authority members also fined John Rotello, an Austin resident, $150 for assisting Brown in connecting to the hydrant.

Both men were given 20 days to pay the fines. Brown paid his Thursday.
