Death Notices

Tillie M. Baker

Tillie M. Baker, 93, of Card Creek Road, Roulette, died July 27, 2018, in UPMC Cole, Coudersport. Born in Coudersport, she was a daughter of Walter and Martha Stannslaus Pransky. In 1947, she married Bruce G. Baker, who died Aug. 4, 2017. Tillie was a lifetime resident of the area. She attended the Odin School and was a 1942 graduate of Coudersport High School. She was a licensed practical nurse with Charles Cole Memorial Hospital for 18 years. Among survivors are a son, Dennis G. Baker of Roulette; and two daughters, Kristine B. Zitnik of Roulette, and Sandra J. Goga of State College. Burial was in Card Creek Cemetery. Switzer Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Floyd A. Lounsbury

Floyd A. Lounsbury, 83, of Galeton died July 26, 2018. He was born on a small family dairy farm in Ulysses. Floyd was a member of the Galeton Area School faculty for 34 years, teaching English and speech and actively coaching and supporting a highly success­ful scholastic tennis team. Among survivors are his wife of 59 years, Beth; daughter Sue and her wife Carol; son David; grandchildren Emily and Andrew, and brother Raymond. Hess Funeral Home, Galeton, handled arrangements.

Zachary R. Elliott

Zachary R. Elliott, 24, of Roulette died July 26, 2018. He was born in Coudersport, a son of Ken and Marlene Earl Elliott. He was a 2012 graduate of Port Allegany High School and was employed by Elliott Lumber of Roulette. He is survived by his parents; his grandmothers, Marilyn Elliott of Smethport and Mildred Earl of Sabinsville; and two brothers, Kirby of Pittsburgh and MacKenzie of Roulette. Calling hours are 11 to noon on Saturday, Aug. 4, at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Home in Port Allegany, where a memorial service will follow.

Eric D. Howard

Eric D. Howard, 52, of Shinglehouse, died July 26, 2018, in Shinglehouse. Born in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of C. DeWayne and Patricia A. Washburn Howard. He married Susan Corfman, who died in 2006. A graduate of Oswayo Valley High School, Eric held a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Pitts­burgh. He was employed as an IT manager at National Public Radio in Washington, D.C. Among survivors are his parents, of Shingle­house; a daughter, Megan Steffey of Honolulu, Hawaii; and two brothers, Scott D. Howard of Guilford, Vt., and Mark D. Howard of Alvin, Texas. Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, is handling arrangements.

Bonita M. Graves

Bonita M. Graves, 68, of Shinglehouse, died Friday, July 27, 2018, in South Mercy Hospital, Buffalo, N.Y. Born in Trenton, N. J., she was the daughter of Wilbur and Lillian Nutt Rogers. Among survivors are her husband, Timothy P. Graves of Harrison Valley; a daughter, Shoshonna Shoap of Thompson’s Station, Tenn.; and three siblings, Kevin Rogers of Orlando, Fla., Kathy Hume of Wellsboro and Karen Nichols of Jacksonville, Fla. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday, Aug. 4, at Olney Funeral Home in Ulysses.
