Armed robber on the loose

State police are investigating another armed robbery taking place in Tioga County.

An unidentified white male wearing a black ski mask and carrying an AR 15 style rifle entered the Acorn Market on Rt. 328 in Lawrenceville at about 12:40 am last Friday. The man ordered employees to give him all the money in the cash register and left on foot with $120.

Similar holdups occurred this past winter at three Tioga County convenience stores.

Pickup hits motorcycle

State police at Denton Hill finally released details of a car/motorcycle collision taking place on the Dividing Ridge Road in Homer Township over Labor Day weekend.

Police said Michael Weir of Pipersville was northbound just after noon on Sept. 2 and allowed his pickup truck to enter opposite lane, striking a motorcycle being driven by Timothy Zanolini of Coudersport.

The bike went off the road and went into an embankment where it continued for several feet before lying down on its left side. Zanolini suffered major injuries. His passenger, Carriebeth Zanolini, was slightly injured. Both were taken by ambulance to UPMC Cole.

Wycoff Run Road crash

Both drivers have been cited for violations following a collision Sunday afternoon in Gibson Township.

State police report the collision occurred when Tyler J. Mensch, who was traveling south on Wycoff Run Road, failed to obey a stop sign and allowed his car to hit a pickup truck driven by Gerald Fraser of Philipsburg.

Mensch’s passenger, Anna Mensch of Shelocta, was taken to Penn Highlands Elk in St. Marys. Fraser and his passenger, Clifford Anderson of West Decatur, were transported to Penn Highlands DuBois for treatment of minor injuries.

Mensch was cited for failing to obey a stop sign and Fraser was cited for driving with a suspended license.

Terroristic threats

State police have charged 39-year-old Joshua Freeman of Coudersport for making terroristic threats.

He allegedly physically assaulted and then threatened to shoot two Ulysses residents with a handgun he had in his vehicle. Freeman fled the scene, but was later taken into custody by state police, who allegedly found the pistol in the suspect’s vehicle.

Theft in Shippen Twp.

State police at Emporium are investigating a theft in Shippen Township.

Criminals stole the tin roof from a building on Four Mile Road between Aug. 15 and Aug. 30. They also stole a lawnmower and lawn roller an adjoining building after gaining access by smashing a window.
