Louise E. Plumley

Louise E. Plumley, 87, of Coudersport, died Sept. 5, 2018, at UPMC Cole. Born in Westfield Township, she was the daughter of Walton O. and Bernice T. (Allen) Taft. She married Robert D. Plumley in 1951. Louise was active with the Rebekahs and other community groups. She also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Among survivors are her husband; a daughter, Sharon Plumley of Coudersport; a grandson, Ryan Allen of Coudersport; a brother, Paul Taft of Westfield; and two sisters, Phyllis Potter of Westfield and Rose Kimble of Little Marsh. Burial was in Champlin Cemetery. Kenyon Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Stella C. Pushcar

Stella C. Pushcar, 95, of Emporium, died Sept. 7, 2018, at her daughter’s residence in Emporium. She was born in Emporium, a daughter of Frank and Mary Olivett Livoto. In 1951, she married Andrew Pushcar. A graduate of Emporium High School, during World War II she worked at Sylvania. Among survivors are a son, Michael Pushcar, Cheyenne, Wyo.; and a daughter, Mary Stuart, Emporium. Burial was in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery. Barnett Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Emma M. George

Emma M. George, 82, of Ulysses, died Sept. 7, 2018, in her daughter’s home in Elkland. Born in Lemon Township, she was the daughter of Cyrus M. and Bernice P. Evans Tripp. She was married to James C. George, who died in 2003. She and her husband owned and operated the Hitchin’ Post in Shongo, N.Y. Among survivors are four daughters, Francilla Jankowski, Vicky Veon, Linda Brown and Faye Youmans; a son, Durwood Ianson; five sisters and a brother. Burial was in Ulysses Cemetery. Olney Funeral, Ulysses, handled arrangements.

Vernon H. Barber

Vernon H. “Bunk” Barber, 77, of Andrews Settlement, died Sept. 6, 2018, at the Buffalo (N.Y.) VA Hospital. He was born in Coudersport, the son of Selin C. and M. Lowanna Slingerland Barber. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Among survivors are his children, Calvin Barber of Andrews Settlement, Suzette Pondillo of Horseheads, N.Y., and Gabe Barber of Ulysses; a sister, Patricia Ingalls of Shinglehouse; and a companion, Lillian Free of Genesee.

Avoca (N.Y.) Funeral Home handled arrangements. Burial was in Bath (N.Y.) National VA Cemetery.

Patricia K. Torok

Patricia K. Torok, 74, of Genesee, died Sept. 10, 2018, at UPMC Cole after being stricken at home. Born in Pocatello, Idaho, she was the daughter of John and Clarice Jelinek Szabo. In 1962, in Brunswick, Ohio, she married Harold A. “John” Torok. They owned and operated a dairy farm in Ulysses Township for many years. Pat was employed by the Potter County Municipal Sewage Agency, Northern Tier Children’s Home, Cole Memorial Hospital, and the Potter County Sheriff’s Office. Among survivors are her husband; three sons, John Torok, David Torok, and James Torok; five grandchildren; and a sister, Linda Abend. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Gold Church. Olney Funeral Home, Ulysses, is handling arrangements.

Pamela K. Doane

Pamela K. Doane, 63, of Shinglehouse, a former long-time resident of Roulette, died Sept. 8, 2018, after a long illness. Born in Coudersport, she was a daughter of Lynn E. and Marion Teusher Doane. A graduate of Port Allegany High School, she had been employed at several jobs, including the former Roulette Drive-In, Emporium Specialties in Austin and Potter Pak in Roulette. Among survivors are her mother; two sons, Kenneth E. Gamet III of Coudersport and Kevin M. Gamet of Port Allegany; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Leslie Doane of Roulette. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm Saturday, Sept. 15, at First Baptist Church in Roulette. Burial will be in Card Creek Cemetery. Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, is handling arrangements.

Judy M. Converse

Judy M. (Ehrhart) Converse, 70, died Sept. 7, 2018, after a battle with cancer. She was born in Corry to Frank and Frieda Ehrhart. Judy was a 1966 graduate of Coudersport Area High School. In 1967, she married Donald C. Converse. Among survivors are her husband; two daughters; three grandchildren, a brother; and four sisters. A service will be held at 11 am Saturday, Sept. 15, at Jerusalem Church in Manheim.

Douglas H. Pease

Douglas H. Pease of Penfield, N.Y., formerly of Shinglehouse, died Sept. 10, 2018. The son of Donald H. Pease and Ceclia M (Enders) Ferris, Doug studied nursing at Finger Lakes Community College and graduated from Rochester (N.Y.) Business Institute, where he taught as an adjunct. He was employed in the health care field for many years. Among survivors are his husband, Kevin C. Henchen; four brothers, and four sisters.
