Motorcyclist seriously injured

Another motorcycle/deer collision causing serious injuries to the driver was reported by state police at Denton Hill this week.

Charles Biddlecom of Plainview, N. J., was operating the cycle last Saturday night on Rt. 6 in Roulette Township when the deer entered the highway. He was ejected and landed on the highway.

Police said Biddlecom, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to UPMC Cole for treatment.

Meanwhile, a well-known Renovo man was life-flighted to Geisinger Medical Center last Friday afternoon for treatment of unknown injuries he suffered in an accident on Pine Hill Road in Stewardson Township.

State police reported that 71-year-old Carl Olshefskie was going north when his motorcycle went off the road and crashed into an embankment. Olshefskie is active in local American Legion affairs.

In a separate incident, minor injuries were reported for a Canadian motorcyclist whose bike crashed on Sunday afternoon Stewardson Township.

Jawad Sheikhzada of Barrie, Ontario, was going north on Rt. 44/Pine Hill Road when the front tire lost traction on a curve, causing the cycle to roll onto its side. He was taken by Kettle Creek Hose Company Ambulance to UPMC Cole.

‘Road rage’ charges

An apparent episode of “road rage” in Oswayo Township last week has resulted in the arrest of a Rochester, N.Y., man.

State police alleged that 47-year-old Anthony Alu threw a hard helmet at a vehicle driven by Keith Hoffman of Shinglehouse while passing him the Hoffman vehicle. Alu then allegedly became aggressive toward Hoffman and pointed a pistol at him.

He has been charged with making terroristic threats, simple assault, reckless endangerment, harassment and criminal mischief.

Marijuana arrest in Galeton

A Galeton man is in Potter County Jail for several marijuana-related charges following an incident at his residence back in July.

Garret Yakoski, 38, of West Main Street, is charged with possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance; possession of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia; and tampering with evidence.

Police report they went to Yakoski’s residence to investigate an unrelated report and observed drug paraphernalia. They returned with a search warrant and confiscated evidence, including a large volume of marijuana seeds packed for sale. Police also allege that Yakoski attempted to flush evidence down his toilet.

District Judge Christopher Kalacinski of Galeton set bail at $25,000.

Truck overturns

A tractor-trailer driver escaped injury Tuesday afternoon when his rig overturned on the Genesee/Mills Road in Bingham Township.

State police reported that Jacob Weber of Warsaw, N.Y., was going east when he steered his truck onto the berm to allow a vehicle to pass. The shoulder gave out, causing the rig to roll down an embankment and dump a small amount of feed being hauled in a tanker. Emporium suspect nabbed

State police in Emporium have charged 24-year-old Nathan Ostrum with resisting arrest and several other offenses in connection to a couple of incidents taking place early Thursday morning at a home on West Sixth Street.

Police said Ostrum fled the scene before police arrived, but he was nabbed following a foot pursuit.
