Joseph A. Gormley

Joseph A. Gormley, 64, of Sabinsville, died Oct. 29, 2018, in his home. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of Joseph Anthony and Joanne E. Sireci Gormley. He was employed by MedPlast in Westfield as a mechanic. Among survivors are his mother, a brother and a sister. Olney Funeral Home, Ulysses, is in charge of arrangements.

Billy D. Earle

Billy D. Earle, 73, a lifelong resident of the Austin area, died Oct. 26, 2018, in UPMC Cole, Coudersport. Born in Westfield, N.Y., he was a son of Richard E. and Geraldine Schruise Earle. Bill attended Austin High School and later earned his GED. He was employed at Emporium Specialties in Austin, worked as a pipeliner, and was a maintenance worker at Sweden Valley Manor. Among survivors are a son, Victor F. Earle of Austin; and a daughter, Karen L. Benson of Eldred. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Keating Summit Hotel, at 5 pm Monday, Nov. 5, 2018. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, is handling arrangements.

Barbara A. Majane

Barbara A. Majane, 90 of, Coudersport, died Oct. 25, 2018, at UPMC Cole. She was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., a daughter of William L. and Anna T. Barnidge Lawrence. In 1958, she married Joseph A. Majane, who died in 2000. Mrs. Majane was a teller at Commonwealth Bank. She was a member of St. Eulalia Catholic Church of Coudersport and volunteered at the Coudersport Senior Center in Coudersport. Among survivors is a daughter, Linda Steadman of Matthews, N.C. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Monday, Nov. 12, at St. Eulalia Catholic Church, Coudersport. Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Home, Port Allegany, is in charge of arrangements.

Vera Taylor

Vera “Jean” Taylor, 88, of Ceres, died Oct. 24, 2018, in the Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital. Born in Erie, she was the daughter of George W. and Elva Buss Saeger. In 1953, she married Glenn “Don” Taylor. For several years, Jean was the home economics teacher at Portville Central School. She later was office manager of the family excavating business. Jean was active with the Ceres United Methodist Church, Ceres Community Center, Oswayo Valley Historical Society and Order of Eastern Star. She also chaired the Shinglehouse Food Cupboard. Among survivors are her husband; two sons, Gregory Taylor of York and Christopher Taylor of Richmond, Va.; and a daughter, Denee Graham of Waldorf, Md. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Ceres. Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, is in charge of arrangements.

Velma B. Wiley

Velma B. “Bernie” Wiley, 90 of Shinglehouse, died Oct. 27, 2018. Born in McConnelsville, Ohio, she was a daughter of Fred and Bertha B. Murphy Beach. In 1946, she married Earl B. Wiley, who died in 2016. Among survivors are six children, including Peggy McLane of Shinglehouse; and a sister, Barbara Brock of Avon Park, Fla. Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, is handling arrangements.

Krystina Moore

Krystina “Krys” Moore, 25, of Emporium, died at UPMCAltoona Hospital on Tuesday (October 30, 2018) as a result of injuries sustained from being hit by an automobile. She was born Jan. 1, 1993 in Nuremberg, Germany, a daughter of Ben A. Moore and Silvia Frank Moore.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Silvia (David Burlingame) Moore, Emporium; father and stepmother, Ben A. (May) Moore, Sr., Anniston, Ala.; one daughter, Novalee Raffaele, Emporium; Novalee’s father, Mark Raffaele, Emporium; maternal grandparents, Walter (Christa Platzer) Frank, Emporium; paternal grandmother, Juanita Moore, Anniston, Ala.; one sister, Johanna (Robert) Byers, Birmingham, Ala.; two brothers, Ben A. Moore, Jr., Birmingham, Ala. and Walter Moore, Anniston, Ala.; along with several aunts, uncles and two nieces and a nephews. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, A.C. Moore.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 306 S. Spruce St., Emporium today (Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018) at 5 pm with Rev. Joseph Short, Pastor, officiating. Family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 3-5 PM
