Several arrests in Galeton

Galeton Borough Police issues a series of news releases detailing arrests over the past several weeks. Details on each incident were scant.

Sheena Metcalf of Sabinsville was charged with identity theft, access device fraud, theft and receiving stolen property.

John R. Malazcewksi of Galeton was jailed on charges of simple assault and harassment following a domestic incident. Police subsequently obtained a search warrant and seized items from the residence. The investigation continues.

Freeman Haning was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Lindsey Deming and Lovejoy Thomas were each cited for forgery, theft, and receiving stolen property. Daniel Foster was charged with simple assault and harassment.

Also, Garret Yakoski was charged with intimidation of a witness or victim, making terroristic threats, endangering welfare of children, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment.

Internet scam

A Ulysses couple was scammed out of an undisclosed amount of money by internet predators last week.

According to state police at Denton Hill, a thief called the Bunnell Road home last Wednesday afternoon advising the victims they were eligible for a refund. Once the scammer obtained personal financial information, he used it to steal an undisclosed sum of money.

Injured in crash

State police at Denton Hill reported that Aaron Waters- Milliken of Portville, N.Y., was seriously injured when he swerved his car to avoid a deer, causing the vehicle to strike an embankment and tree before rolling onto the driver’s side.

Police said he was negotiating a right curve on Rt. 44 when the deer entered the road. He was taken by ambulance to UPMC Cole.

Camp burglarized

Thieves took almost $600 worth of items from a camp on the Short Run Road in Abbott Township between Oct. 24 and last Friday.

Stolen items included satellite television equipment, baseboard heater, hunting gear and other property. The camp is owned by a 57-year-old Landenberg man whose name was withheld by police.

Truck crash on Rt. 6

An Eldred driver escaped injury Tuesday morning when his pickup truck hit a section of guardrails in Eulalia Township.

State police said Cody Stone was headed east on Rt. 6 near Elm Flat road when the vehicle hit a patch of slush and slid off the pavement and rolled over onto the driver’s side.
