Death Notices

David W. House

David W. House, 58, a long-time resident of Austin, died Nov. 19, 2018, in UPMC Cole, Coudersport, after suffering an apparent heart attack. Born in Coudersport, he was a son of Harold and Alice Ayers House. In 1983, he married Hope D. Hopkins. David was a 1979 graduate of Coudersport Area High School. He was employed by Austin Borough for more than 21 years. Among survivors are his wife; three children, William F. “Fred” House and Deonna M. Snyder, both of Austin, and Jerry S. Springer of Bellefonte; two sisters, Barbara Cowburn of Howard and Fern Davis of Holly Grove, Ark.; and a brother, Douglas H. House of Austin. Burial will be in Eulalia Cemetery. Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, is handling arrangements.

Steve Stamilio

Steve Stamilio, 64, of Greenville, N.C., formerly of Galeton and Coudersport, died Nov. 17, 2018. He was the son of Dominic and Mary Dandrea Stamilio. For many years he operated SJS Plumbing & Heating, based in Coudersport. In 1980, he married Jean Cox. In 1997, the family moved to North Carolina. Steve was active with Christ the King Lutheran Church in Charlotte and Rock Church of Tarboro. Among survivors are his wife; a daughter Rebecca Stamilio Ehret; two sons, Tony Stamilio and Stephen Stamilio; and a sister, Nancy Stamilio of Galeton.

Gale Perovich

Gale Perovich, 56, of Galeton, died Nov. 21, 2018, at her home. Born in Dansville, N.Y., she was a daughter of Sally (Carlin) Kludt of Galeton and Mark Perovich. Among survivors are her mother; a daughter, Nicole Sweeting, Caledonia, N.Y.; two brothers, Mark Perovich, Dansville, and Colonel Perovich, Ulysses; and two sisters, Joy Perovich, Conesus, N.Y., and Sally Morris, Geneseo, N.Y. Hess Funeral Home, Galeton, handled arrangements.

Catherine C. Pohl

Catherine C. “Kate” Pohl, 87, of Emporium, died Nov. 26, 2018, at Penn Highlands Elk, St. Marys. She was born in Ridgway, a daughter of John and Anne Gallagher Quigley. She was a graduate of Emporium High School, St. Vincent School of Nursing, and Clarion University. She was the school nurse with the Cameron County School District for more than 25 years. She also worked for Dr. Joseph Blackburn, Visiting Nurses Association and Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital. Kate was an active member of St. Mark Catholic Church. Among survivors are a daughter, Brigid Pohl, and a son, John M. Pohl. Barnett Funeral Home is handling arrangements. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Mark Church at 10 am Saturday, Dec. 1. Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery.

Rev. Randall Walter Headley

Rev. Randall Walter Headley, 70, of Port Allegany, died Nov. 24, 2018, at UPMC Cole. He was born in Tarentum, a son of Rev. William N. and Lois M. McLaughlin Headley. In 2002, he married Barbara S. Perkins. Randy attended the Divinity School at Duke University. He was a Marine Corps veteran. Rev. Headley served Methodist churches Shinglehouse, Ceres, Port Allegany, Crosby, Roulette and Fishing Creek. He was active with many organizations, including Port Allegany Rotary Club and the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital board of directors. Among survivors are his wife; three daughters, Nicole Fowler, Jaclyn Pearsall and Jennie Norton; and two sons, Howard Wheeler and Justin Wheeler. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery. Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Home, Port Allegany, handled arrangements.

Leonardo V. A. Sabatino

Leonardo Vincent Arlen Sabatino died Nov. 24, 2018, at his home in Woodland, Clearfield County. He was born June 13, 2018, in DuBois, the son of David and Mikenzi Lewis Sabatino. Among survivors are his parents; two sisters, Nadia and Irissa; his paternal grandmother, Linda Darnell Sabatino of Crawfordville, Fla.; maternal grandparents, Thomas and Valerie Werstler of Coudersport; great grandmother, Lena Rogerson of Salyersville, Ky.; great grandmother, Sarah Lanphere of Emporium, and great grandfather, Larry Werstler of Green Cove Springs, Fla. Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, is in charge of arrangements.
