Members of the Emporium Volunteer Fire Department needed almost a halfhour to extinguish a stubborn truck fire Monday afternoon behind a garage on East Third Street, next to the West Creek Recreation Trail. Cause of the fire on a truck being used to haul logs has yet to be determined. It was being driven by Alvin Lyon who had parked it and went inside. The fire was discovered from inside the building after the garage door by which the truck was parked began to melt. Truck is owned by Robertson Trucking.
